Supt. (Rtd.) Isaac Okrah is a distinguished and Gazetted Fingerprint Expert with a rich background in forensic science and criminal investigation. He served with distinction in the Ghana Police Service Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he became one of the most seasoned fingerprint experts in the country. With his extensive expertise, he played pivotal roles in solving numerous national and inter-continental criminal cases, solidifying his reputation as a leading authority in the field. Education and Training: Supt. Okrah holds an MPhil in
Forensics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he also serves as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Forensic Science. He earned a B.Ed. in Mathematics from the University of Education, Winneba, and a Diploma in Statistics and Advanced Mathematics from the University of Ghana, Legon. His specialized training includes Advanced Fingerprint and Computer courses in New Delhi, India, and Crime Scene Investigation in Lyon, France.
Additionally, Supt. Okrah has undergone advanced training in Latent Fingerprint Techniques and Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AST/AFIS) by the FBI and the Spanish Embassy in Accra, respectively. This training has equipped him with cutting-edge skills in fingerprint analysis, making him a sought-after expert in the field.
Professional Experience: Throughout his career, Supt. Okrah has applied his knowledge of both theoretical and practical fingerprint investigation methods. His expertise has been crucial in high-profile criminal cases, where he has served as an expert witness in the apex courts of Ghana. His contributions to the field extend beyond investigation; he has been a key figure in the education and training of the next generation of forensic experts.
Supt. Okrah is a part-time lecturer at the University of Ghana, Knutsford University, and the Institute for Security and Disaster Studies in Langma, which is affiliated with the University of Cape Coast. His passion for education is evident in his role as a lead consultant in various Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs, where he facilitates courses on fingerprint analysis for universities and security services.
Research and Consultancy: As the Director of Forensic Yard Ghana, Supt. Okrah continues to contribute to the advancement of forensic science in Ghana. His research focuses on Fingerprint and Crime Scene Investigation, areas where his expertise has been instrumental in both academic and practical settings.
